    Another good rod!

This 7' 3/4wt rod is the second one I have bought from Wild Water. No, it's not a replacement rod, rather an addition to the 9' 5/6wt I bought last year.

Wild Water fly rod kits are good value for the price. They are a quality product sold by a company with outstanding customer service. One can't ask more than that, especially these days when so many companies ignore their customers.

Too, Wild Water supports Project Healing Waters . . . a non-profit organization dedicated to beat-up old Vets, like me, takes us flyfishing, while providing all the gear, if you don't have any, and one-on-one guides. If for no other reason than Wild Water's support of PHW, I'd still highly recommend it.

    7'5" Rod & Reel outfit

This is a follow up review. I still like this set up, even though I have several mid range priced rods and reels; a Moonshine Vesper, Redington Path II and a 7.5 ft Moonshine Drifter.

I really like the Wild Water setup. The quality is fine and works as intended. Great first rod for the first time Fly Fisher at a fantastic price.
I use it as a Travel Rod and keep it in my car just in case I find a new spot. I did switch out the line to a Scientific Angler 3 wt Booster. I can cast much further with this setup with more control.

I suggestion about the reel. The reel is built solidly. It's not made of plastic. It's made of Die cast Aluminum. It looks of good quality, but there are some complaints of the reel freezing up. After about a dozen uses of reel, I pulled the spool out and it was completely dry. I'm not sure if it even had any lube on it from the start. I cleaned up the mounting and lubed both sides of the where they connect. I think this would solve any freezing issues. I will check it again after a half dozen uses to see if the lube holds up.

You cannot beat this price for a beginner's setup or the impromptu use out of your car if you're in an out of way place without a rod & reel. It catches fish and is a lot of fun for panfish at a 3wt. Haven't caught anything larger than a 12" Rainbow with this setup, but as a lightweight 3 wt, it was a lot of fun reeling him in.

This is a great low cost outfit for any beginner that works well. Best deal for the price compared to other name brand starter outfits.

    Great for the money

Great as a starter rod for my son. We’re outdoor generalists we don’t spend too much time doing any one thing, but he’s caught trout and smallmouth on it and it’s held up.

    Works for the price

I gave this 5 stars because it does work and you will catch fish. It however does not compare to a mid to higher end rod. With the price you can’t expect this will be a sage or Thomas and Thomas. I wanted to get into fly fishing but had experienced fly fishermen suggest get a cheap rod learn the basics and then decide. I used this rod for indicator fishing kinda of non traditionally. I used the indicator but used a tippet ring and tungsten nymphs and no split shot. I caught 2 trout first time out with no help in an area not stocked well. It took a few times out to get the basics down then improve each time out. After a month I was getting 50+ trout days. I since have switched to a mid level euro rod. A lot of people look like they are good with their higher end gear but I was out fishing them a lot them with this cheap rod and probably still can now that I have more experience. It’s an awesome sport and addicting. A bonus it comes with extra leaders, nippers, forceps, fly box and tippet to get you started. I will probably keep using it to actually panfish with now.
